This blog on Free Techonology for Teachers, reviews a search engine, Kidrex, that kids can safely use. I love this search engine and I will have my eight year old daughter, Shayla, use it when she needs to search the web. It is also great to use in the classroom because inapproriate sites will not come up in the searches. I tried to type in a somewhat inappropriate word, breasts. When I hit the search button, a page came up that said, "Oops! Try Again!" It is very kid friendly with a crayon-type design.

Hi,
ReplyDeleteKidRex has a very attractive interface.
Older students can use Kigose School Search Engine which allows them to search many kids search engines easily.

Ronald
Karen,
ReplyDeleteI checked out the Kigose School Search Engine mentioned in the first comment on your post. It looks intriguing. It seems you can enter a term and then choose where you want the search engine to search. Have you tried it out?

Dr. Burgos,
ReplyDeleteI am glad you suggested I try this. I looked at it and when I basically got a blank screen, I thought it was a bad link. I like the Kigose site too.
Thanks Ronald!
